The School Song

The Sinjuns School Song was written by V. C. Osborne and set to music by Dr. R. H. Hunt, and sung for the first time at a public function on Speech Day in December 1931, this realizing a long expressed ambition of the Head Master of the time that the School should have a really rousing School Song. The first performance had been on December 5th, 1931, at the Annual Dinner of the Old Boy's Association.

The sheet music indicates that the second Verse was intended for "occasional" use only

The Words are as follows:

1st Verse:

Sinjuns past and Sinjuns present, let us all with heart and mind
Laud the School to which our Founder, richest treasure hath assigned
Solemn vow of knightly honour, free from blemish, free from scathe,
Every Sinjun's inspiration, 'Rather deathe than false of faythe.'

Chorus:

Sinjuns! Sinjuns! Sinjuns, raise your voices,
Sinjuns! Sinjuns! While each heart rejoices,
Loudly let the name resound, Let it ring the world around
Sinjuns! Sinjuns! Sinjuns!

2nd Verse:

This is was inspired our heroes, braced each heart and nerved each hand,
While they strove for peace of nations, armed with truth resolved to stand,
Thus in spite of death and danger, meeting both with courage cool,
Sinjuns kept their faith unbroken, honoring their beloved school.

Chorus:

Sinjuns! Sinjuns! Sinjuns, raise your voices,
Sinjuns! Sinjuns! While each heart rejoices,
Loudly let the name resound, Let it ring the world around
Sinjuns! Sinjuns! Sinjuns!

3rd Verse:

Sinjuns present, strongly, gladly, we must play our part today,
Holding fast the grand tradition, keeping faith in work and play.
So may we with firm assurance, our great Founder's gift bequeath,
Vital, active, no mere motto, 'Rather deathe than false of faythe.'

Final Chorus: - "Eextremely loud"

Sinjuns! Sinjuns! Sinjuns, raise your voices,
Sinjuns! Sinjuns! While each heart rejoices,
Loudly let the name resound, Let it ring the world around
Sinjuns! Sinjuns! Sinjuns!

Don Joseph, (Sinjuns 1935 - 1943) kindly sent us the Sinjuns School Song in a Midi format which was then converted into an MP3, and you can hear it by clicking below

Of course, what we would really like is if any Old Sinjun who has acess to a music studio, or a church choir, or even a school choir, could record the Sinjuns School Song in it's full glory. So if you can help us out with this please let us know at help@sinjuns.com .
