Sinjuns Guestbook - January 2004 ~ December 2004

I can't think why it's taken me so long to look for this site. I've just looked back through the guest book and was amazed to see so many familiar student names from the years I spent on the staff {1971-84). I live in Northamptonshire and am still teaching. I was interested to see that reunions take place and will try to make the effort to attend . Best wishes to all who remember me. Paul Meaden

Brief though my time at Sinjuns was, it has remained a fond memory. There the year Dr. Presswood died and other unhappy events took place at the school.

Anyone remember the different coloured exercise books we used at Sinjuns? From memory red was for English, brown for history, yellow for Geography, blue/grey for Physics, etc. Why did we have to cover them all in brown wrapping paper, rendering them in distinguishable?

Well....people,where are you?Me,steve price, dean elliot... all went to the school annual piss.-up.It seems to be wholly unreported. We made total unsinjunlikes fools of ourselves,to which lippy thomas et williams at last admitted we were funny.25years/'ergo'.We gratefully paid our 30 odd quid. When we got to the Woodman....Turkeys and trouser legs were involved,Suffice to say.Sinjuns reunions has become a middle class sub standard mason's lodge. If only some Sinjuns attended who where realloy at the school for what it was.IE people with brains but not pompous or nouveau riche.Sadly, the whole evening was hijacked by sad old ex school types who brefriended no one,[let alone there wives, children etc].Any road up;an exceedingly boring speech went on and on and on,while various middle class octonogenarians[in there own endearing senile way]tried to hide wine we had all paid for,I woke williams up and told him.but he was totalled[3ft6 sports teacher].Some fat william blake type attacked steve.[fair play you might say]However it was way past our bed time and so.... we all went home.Paul Meaden, don't.You know it makes sense. We were tolod not to attend any more school reunions.SEE YOU THERE.BOLLOX.Its our school.

I was at the dinner that Vic garrick refers to : I was also in the Woodman : and he is right - what a bunch of middle aged , middle class wankers run this show. This year I am 48 years old , and I am middle class. But I fucking HATE what this school did to me : I am gobsmacked that we came out as a normal bunch of people - we have grown up to be caring sharing folk - not self centred cunts that we were taught to be.

Hi there all who remember me. I was at SWSJ from 1974 to 1981 in LT before the shadow of William Blake and comprehensive-ism crossed our paths. What a f**ked-up decision that was. Hope that you captains of industry are in good health as well as the rest of you mere mortals. I tried a while back to get some my contemporaries together for some reunion-type events but I was just totally overwhelmed by the apathy I received in response. Should I try again? I'd like to just to see how bald and fat most of us have become (note the use of the word 'us'). Come on you guys who started in '74 - respond here, or, better yet, send me an e-mail to the address supplied. You know it makes sense! BY the way, FYI, I gave up real work 3 years ago in order to become a novelist. Hands up those who've read one and can tell me the pseudonym I use. (Well you didn't think I'd use my REAL name did you?) Anyway, best wishes to all. P.S. Hi to Paul Meaden. Hope you're well. Glad you could join us. Didn't realise your name was Paul - thought it was 'Pig Face' a la Lee Wells. :)

I was at Sinjuns from 1953 to 1960. A while ago I had a letter from Roy Macnamara, with whom I wanted to keep in touch. Unfortunately, last year I developed a severe case of cardiomyopathy and had to have a heart transplant. In the ensuing kerfuffle I lost all kinds of addresses. Would anyone please let me know of any addresses they have for Roy Mac, Dave Snelgrove, JAS Sullivan, Roy West, Steve Roy, Paul Stalder, Marcel Escudier, Ray Parker, Tony Howick, 'Rusty' Steele and anyone else of that era. Many thanks in advance for any clues. Incidentally, part of this site seems to have died. A year or so ago I sent off a whole load of old Sinjun magazines which I had scanned to be placed on the website, but none of them seem to have appeared. Anyone know what is happening with these? as my mother has dug up some more and I could scan them and send them if it is worth while. Regards to all.

Hello, it was a pleasant surprise to discover the Sinjuns website and even more so that someone had actually remembered me (Roger Price 2001, what happened to John Bridges and Ron Girle etc). I was also a little sad to realise that I have not visited what was so much a part of my life for six years, since I left in 1960. After leaving Sinjuns I have worked in industry (for the last 30 years as a consultant) throughout the UK. I currently live in Lichfield in Staffordshire with my wife Linda. I have three children and one grandchild; two of whom live in England and the other (and grandchild) live in Paxos in Greece. Sorry, I don't know what happened to John Bridges, but I would be delighted to hear from anyone who remembers me from the past. Ron Girle

I was not at the school but I am trying to trace an old friend who was at the school in the 1960s. His name is Steve Brant. I last heard from him in the 1980s, but then lost contact and don't know his current contact details. If anyone can help please email me at drraynoble@aol.com. Many thanks.

Anybody out there remember Paul Mudan? He left Sinjuns in 1965. In one of those "it's a small world" situations, Paul and I, who both work for the same company in New Jersey City, found out today that we are both Old Sinjuns! Neither of us remembered each other when we were at school -- I left in 1962. We've both lived in the States since the early 1980s.

Responding to Alan Brock's posting responding to my inquiry about Paul Mudan. Yes, I am indeed one of the Holt brother's that you mention. Nice to be remembered. Bob & I wore the green of Tregoze. While writing, I ought to correct an error in my earlier posting. Paul & I work in Jersey City -- as any New Jerseyite worth his salt will know, there's no such place as New Jersey City!

I learnt about this site from a gentlemen, David Holt, who has been working at the same company that i do for the last 27 odd yersa. I have been with ISO for the last 22 years and we met last week during a blood drive, and became aware that we had attended the same school. I was there in 1965.

Dave, pleased to read your further entry. I was in Beauchamp House and as the late Doctor Cavell used to say 'Beauchamp, we'll teach 'em. A few years ago I met John Towers who was at the school about the same time, although maybe a year or two older, he excelled at the annual swimming gala at the Latchmere.

Please forgive the intrusion by a mere "girlie", but it's been 26 years so I'm going ahead anyhow. Class of 73, Jon Rushworth (you know who you are!) Tony Philpot (ask Jeanette to get in touch) Darryl Turner (did your voice break?) Dean Elliott (resplendent in that long, black leather coat) Steve Begley (how did you end up working with my dad?) Steve Price (the memory of your bright green cap sleeve t-shirt obliterates any others) Lloyd Ridgeway (I never showed my face at the Ideal Home Exhibition again) ... summer of 1977... So you win again (Hot Chocolate), Show you the way to go (Jacksons) Hotel California (Eagles)... long, hot summer days in Roehampton... 2 tiny slices of cheese & tomato pizza and a 10 year old baked potato (the cheapest thing on the menu at Pizzaland) waiting for the 93 bus, regrouping when none of us could get into an X at Putney flicks...the stuff that nostalgia's made of, thanks for letting me share...oh and...
